User Reviews Such a deal    I really owe it to Amazon that I own this television. I put it on my wish list and intended to buy it... someday. I owned a 55" 1080i Mitsubishi CRT that weighed 450lbs. I surfed through Amazon one day and this "personal ad" popped up that said, "this television is on your wish list, when are you going to buy it?" I printed out the information on the television and went to our local "blue" store with the ad in my hand. I wanted to see it in person. They had it on display. I played with the remote. A salesman walked up and asked if I like it. "I love it," I told him, "I just can't afford your price. I wish you could match this one..." He looked at the paper in my hand. "I'll match it," he told me. Well, you could have knocked me over with a feather. I bought the television the next week at the price Amazon quoted (nearly $700 off the retail price!). We donated the old television to an underprivileged family. They appreciated our old TV as they had a small 19 inch color CRT. We were happy for them. But I have to tell you, after we hooked up the smaller 47" the difference was striking from the start. Not only do old DVD's look better, but HD broadcasts, such as NBC (which looks the best) and CBS are extremely sharp. I'm an NFL fan and football games are incredible. The 240hz completely eliminates the "pixil" look during football games we saw on other televisions. The PS3 seems like a new system. Old games are sharper and clearer. The blue ray movies jump off the screen like 3D. Would I buy the TV through Amazon? Absolutely. However, as things worked out, it must have been kismet. :2010-11-30 08:16:01 Great TV at a Reasonable Price    We finally replaced an old projection large screen TV with this LG. We had admired my mother's LG, so thought this one would be okay. We checked out all the other brands at the "big box" stores, and for the price, LG came out on top. The picture is crystal clear, and with the 240Hz, there is no blur, even during football games. We feel like we're down on the field. The blacks are black, the color is stunning. We have some seating that is at quite an angle, and even there, the picture is clear. We hooked it up to our surround sound system, but when we checked out the sound before connecting the surround sound, we were very pleasantly surprised. It's excellent. It was very easy to set up, and the menu system is clear and understandable. It even made our old CDs look so much better. This TV is as good as the more expensive ones, at considerably less cost, especially given the Amazon price and the free shipping. :2010-11-30 08:15:42 very nice    this lcd with the 240 hz is great, best picture quality i seen with my blue ray and hdmi cable with 1.3 and over 240 hz quality.. and the clear voice sound is great also... use to be all you hear is the background sounds and music play in a movie.. and low voice, now its better with this lg lcd tv, has all the inputs i like to see on a tv.... shipping was fast ordered it on june 16th.. they had it estimated it would be here between the 22 and 25 of june... but to my amaze it was here today june 18 , that was very fast 2 day shipping for free.. fed ex had it estimated to deliver it on the 19th .. but it was today at 12.30 pm , thanks amazon for the free fast shipping on something this big, i give this a 5 star , i could say 4 and a half but having that fast shipping made it a 5 star :2010-11-30 08:15:24 Bang For The Buck    Although a plethora of internet reviews spoke of sync issues between lip and audio, looking beyond the picture sometimes requires learning how to use the remote control, or reading the manual. On first power on, as stated in other posts & forums, watching Standard Definition cable seemed to have some significant delay. This is only because TruMotion is on. Once turned off, SD was in sync, with no issues. In HD, this, you can indeed turn it back on, to get that dimensional quality some viewers enjoy so much. But its not necessary. And once again. External audio system or internal, this TV functions as it should given a proper run thru the menu. Out of the box, the settings reflect an ideal HD demonstration. As far as the clarity of this TV, I give it 2 thumbs up. Colors are stunning and pop just enough to make you feel like like your in it. Black remain deep and it looks great in all lighting. You really c :2010-11-30 08:13:56 Head-to-Head with a Panasonic G15 Plasma - LG 47LH55 WINS    Always thought I would buy a plasma but after a salesman strongly recommended the 240Hz LG LCD decided to give it a go. However, after purchasing this 47LH55 model wasn't sure if a quality plasma would better fit my viewing preferences and since I would be living with a new TV for a few years decided to do a live comparison in my home. So... purchased a Panasonic plasma 50 inch G15 to compare directly to the 47 inch LG - with one TV being returned at the end of it all. Both TV's are upper-mid range models so it was a pretty fair head-to-head comparison. To allow a dynamic comparison, purchased a 2 port HDMI 1x2 powered splitter ver 1.3 certified for full HD 1080P with deep color & HD audio and max bandwidth of 10.2Gbps to allow watching identical channels simultaneously whether in HD, SD cable feeds and 1080P blu-ray. Wanted the best HDMI splitter available, as the signal had to be accurate to both displays - also used identical high quality HDMI cables for all connections. Both :2010-11-30 08:13:09 G. The 240Hz is perfect for sports and fast moving shows with a lot of action -- picture quality is A-1, sharp and very clear and does NOT blur with fast and quick action. Has many different functions than a person can use to change the format that he or she likes best. The menu interface is very EASY to use and gives many options with input, picture, and audio settings. A real great feature is "clear voice" which sharpens normal speach and makes hearing easier especially with a lot of background noise. Also if watching a DVD the TV remembers the settings that are programmed into that particular imput even though they may be different from the settings while watching normal TV channels. A person doesn't have to re-program each time you watch a DVD or other optional component.
